St. Joseph said yes to becoming one of the most influential people in Jesus' life, his earthly father. This isn't a role that any man would take upon themselves. Although St. Joseph was not Jesus' biological father, he loved Him and guided Him every step of the way with no questions asked.  It takes a man of great faith and virtue to be the earthly role model and protector of our Lord Jesus Christ. This work shows the love and bond Jesus had with His earthly father and illustrates the importance of that bond. Earthly fathers play such an important role in the lives of their children and there is no greater example of that than in St. Joseph. In this image, you see an adolescent Jesus looking toward and learning from St. Joseph. Jesus is dressed in white with a red sash tied around his waist, a reminder of the blood spilled from the lamb for our sins.
